If you purchase used textbooks, be sure to look at the edition number. Students will be required to independently convert reading requirements if they choose to use books that are different from those adopted for each course.

Students should not purchase used books for the NURS-1000 & NURS-1010 courses, as the supplier has bundled the textbook, skills book, care planning book, and skill videos at a reduced cost. If a student purchases a used textbook, the online skill videos are not included and must be purchased individually. This is often more expensive and inconvenient for the student.

Uniforms & Equipment

Equipment required for first-year

• Stethoscope
• Penlight
• Adult-size Sphygmomanometer (Blood pressure cuff)
• Navy scrubs, white leather shoes, and a white lab coat will be required, however not until later in the program (We encourage you to wait to get these).

IMMUNIZATIONS AND TB TESTING

Students are required to have up-to-date immunizations and TB testing to be permitted to participate in Clinical/Practicum placements. Students accepted will not be allowed into Clinical/Practicum settings without the required immunizations and therefore will not be able to complete the program. Please ensure that you have completed and sent in the  to the Admissions Office. This form is an admission requirement. To ensure that you will meet all the requirements for admission before your program start date, it is recommended that you begin the process as soon as possible.

CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK WITH VULNERABLE SECTOR

Before attending any practicum or clinical portions of the program, a student must submit a criminal record check and a vulnerable sector check. If the check indicates that a record exists, the student may not be able to complete portions of their program that are required for graduation. Any associated costs are the responsibility of the student. Please be advised that clinical placement and practicums may consist of 8-hour day or evening shifts, or 12-hour day or weekend shifts.
